Following our successful delivery of the Strategic Management Plan for 2021-2025, the Yorke Peninsula Council engaged Holmes Dyer to prepare a new Strategic Management Plan for the 2025-2029 period. The Yorke Peninsula Council encompasses an area of 5,900 square kilometres, including 12 larger towns and 33 smaller townships, and is home to 12,165 residents. This region boasts a 485-kilometre coastline and thriving tourism economy and is renowned for its rich soil and prosperous agricultural businesses. The Strategic Management Plan has been prepared in consultation with Council staff, Elected Members, and the community. Workshops were held with Council staff and the Elected Member body to assist with the preparation of a draft Vision Statement and Mission Statement, which were then tested at workshops with key community groups and representatives in July 2024. To gather feedback from the broader community, the first quarter rates notice included details on accessing an online survey aimed at understanding community priorities and gauging support for the revised Vision and Mission statements. In addition, every school in the council was encouraged to participate in a vision activity, resulting in the participation of over 100 school students whose drawings and feedback was used throughout the Strategic Management Plan. The feedback collected was instrumental in shaping the final Vision Statement, Mission Statement, goals, and strategies for Council endorsement.
