Westbury Housing (TAS)

Project Info:

Holmes Dyer has prepared a detailed housing and site development concept for land in Westbury, involving an analysis of land suitability, concept planning, review of the relevant planning scheme requirements, and preparation of floorplans to Livable Housing Australia Silver standards, elevations, landscape concepts, materials and finishes detailing, and shadow diagrams. The site presented unique challenges due to its battle- axe nature with two existing dwellings located within its handle, and a narrow accessway – with Holmes Dyer working closely with Meander Valley Council throughout the planning application process to obtain the best outcome for both the client and Council. The site has since been developed with 11 dwellings comprising a mixture of one and two bedroom attached and semi-detached dwellings, which will provide much needed social housing managed by a community housing provider. The site was opened by the Minister for Housing and Planning as part of the partnership between the community housing provider, Tasmanian State Government, and Homes Tasmania.
