This project, led by a Director of Holmes Dyer, aimed to support the economic and urban revitalisation of Adelaide’s premier Port area. It involved the preparation of a comprehensive Master Plan and detailed Precinct Plans for 10 distinct precincts within Port Adelaide.
Each plan addressed:
- Desired character of the locality;
- Land use opportunities;
- Vehicle and pedestrian linkages;
- Parks, civic and event spaces and boardwalks;
- Over water and marina development;
- Building scale, form, and street relationship;
- Relationships to surrounding development;
- Heritage buildings and historic conservation areas;
- Activation frontages;
- Entry statements and streetscape improvements;
- View corridors, landmark buildings, and structures;
- Car parking requirements;
- Public transport linkages;
- Land swap, acquisition, and disposal opportunities; and
- Key redevelopment sites.
The project also involved the development of a comprehensive implementation strategy, stakeholder consultation strategy, and overview of the rezoning process. The implementation strategy addressed centre wide and individual precincts, whilst identifying key actions, responsibilities, delivery mechansims, timing, costs and priorities.
