Murray Mallee Regional Plan

Project Info:

Holmes Dyer was engaged by the South Australian Department of Housing and Urban Development (DHUD) to prepare a Regional Plan for the Murray Mallee Region of South Australia.

The Murray Mallee Region covers 655,000 square kilometres and is located between the Adelaide Hills to the west and the Victorian border to the east. The region comprises 8 local council areas, together with vast areas of unincorporated land governed by the State.

The Murray Mallee Regional Plan (MMRP) is a high level strategic document designed to guide the future growth and development of the region over the next 15 to 20 years.

To inform the development of the MMRP, Holmes Dyer has facilitated a series of meetings and workshops with the local councils in the region, and other key stakeholders to understand the following:

  • Future housing and employment needs;
  • Key infrastructure constraints and requirements;
  • Areas suitable for future rural living; and
  • Significant investment / key projects and opportunities for the region.

The feedback received informed the development of a series of Growth Investigation Area maps, which are supported
by recommendations regarding future investigations and actions to be undertaken to facilitate the future growth and
success of the region.
