Holmes Dyer was involved in the delivery of a 5-star international hotel and associated hosptiality and retailing offer on the former GPO site.
The project represented an ideal activation of an existing Commonwealth and State listed heritage building, while bringing a world renowned hotel brand to Adelaide.
Holmes Dyer prepared tourism visitation, economic and employment generation projections in support of the proposal, as well as managing a complex application process which combined highly sensitive and controlled heritage buildings (the former GPO and Telegraph Building) with a new hotel tower, which required sensitive insertion into the surrounding heritage fabric.
Holmes Dyer coordinated the inputs of the consultant team into the DA process, coordinated the design review process, and presented the proposal to the approving authority, along with continued involvement in the approval of design refinements during the construction phase.
The Marriott Hotel officially opened on 22 August 2024.
