Holmes Dyer was engaged by another town planning consultancy to undertake the community engagement processes associated with the Buckingham Arms Code Amendment.
The Code Amendment sought to rezone the land from Local Centre Zone to Urban Corridor (Living) along with changes to the TNVs guiding maximum building height, interface height, and the minimum primary street setback.
Holmes Dyer was responsible for the preparation of the Engagement Strategy, engagement materials, engagement activities, and Engagement Report. Community consultation occurred for a period of 6 weeks with extensive notification occurring through direct letters sent to 115 affected owners and occupiers, emails sent to the Town of Walkerville and key stakeholders informing them of the proposed Code Amendment, advertisements within The Advertiser and the Town of Walkerville ‘About Town’ publication, and A1 signage on the land.
Holmes Dyer produced a comprehensive suite of consultation material to support the Code Amendment, including fact sheets, FAQ sheets, and hard copies of the Engagement Plan and draft Code Amendment. Holmes Dyer held two community-drop-in sessions to respond to queries from the broader community. After each community drop-in session, a follow up email was sent to all attendees providing an overview of the session and included a link to an online survey seeking opinions on the effectiveness of the session and feedback on how future sessions could be improved.
Once consultation on the Code Amendment had concluded a post-engagement letter and invitation to participate in a post-engagement survey were sent to all community members who had contacted the Designated Entity (via Holmes Dyer) during the engagement period, attended a drop-in session and/or made a submission on the proposed Code Amendment.
The Buckingham Arms Code Amendment was peer reviewed by external consultants engaged by the City.
