Development Assessment Audits

Councils operate in a highly regulated and transparent environment. To ensure their appropriate operation, Councils undertake periodic audits of various aspects of their functions to ensure all duties are discharged in a diligent and proper manner. Holmes Dyer was engaged to undertake audits of Burnside and Marion Councils’ Development Assessment functions.
Holmes Dyer identified key indicators relevant to each particular situation and then developed a random sampling process to test them against the criteria and assess compliance levels, identify any procedural weaknesses and any threats or risks to Council.
The audit process was undertaken over a number of weeks and it concluded with a report to the Audit Committee, outlining the findings, highlighting any area requiring urgent action and making a series of recommendations for improvements.
